They say lightning doesn’t strike twice but a Massachusetts couple won a $1,000,000 jackpot on a $30 scratch off lottery ticket last week and it’s the third time they’ve won a major lottery prize in the last five years.
Janet Pflaumer-Phillips of Lakeville, Massachusetts collected her $1,000,000 win last week after her husband, Kevin won a $1,000,000 prize in 2014, and another in 2016. The couple has said that they plan to help out friends and family with the third windfall.
The couple’s luck first started in the April of 2014 when Janet’s husband, Kevin won a $1,000,000 prize on the state lottery’s 100x the Cash scratchcard. In 2016 he bought another scratchcard that also netted him $1,000,000 and now the couple are celebrating their third win after wife Janet scooped another $1,000,000 prize on the Diamond Millions scratchcard.
Janet scooped the prize after buying the $30 Diamond Millions game, a fairly new addition to the games from the Massachusetts Lottery. She purchased the ticket at A&A Petro at 381 West Grove Street in Middleborough, and the store will receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale of the ticket.
Massachusetts state lottery organisers congratulated Janet on the win and confirmed that there are another 78 Diamond Millions tickets remaining with a $1,000,000 prize on offer.
The couple didn’t say how often they bought lottery tickets but even if they are frequent purchasers, they are still surely one of the luckiest people in the whole of Massachusetts!
