A North Carolina woman bought her sister a lottery ticket for Mother’s Day and that ticket has ended up being a $1,300,000 jackpot winner. Vielka Roman went out to dinner with her sister, Neris for Mother’s Day and after the meal Neris bought her sister a Carolina Cash 5 ticket.
The very next day Vielka’s fiancée checked the numbers online as they drove to a vacation destination in the mountains and could hardly believe what he was saying as the numbers had come in! Vielka’s fiancée, Al saw the confetti burst on the screen on the Carolina lottery website but still couldn’t believe it was a winner and checked the numbers five times to ensure they were real. After realising they had won they headed straight to lottery headquarters to claim the massive prize.
Vielka said her sister was the first person she called and they claimed the prize together. Neris spoke of how her sister had always been there for her and said they would share the $1,300,000 prize.
The prize is the third largest jackpot in Carolina Cash 5 history. Vielka had to pay state and federal taxes and after those were taken out of the win, she took home a massive $958,078, almost a million dollars!
When asked what she plans to do with the cash she said she plans to pay off her house and car, as well as help her sister and children with the money. The family just moved to the area and just bought a house so to be able to pay off the mortgage will give them room to breathe and allow them to spend more time together as a family.
